STEP INTO GOD’S STORY FOR YOUR LIFE
Whether you have been in church your entire life or if you have never stepped foot inside a church before, here are some things we would like you to know.
WHAT MAKES NORTHWOOD UNIQUE
We express our mission to make disciples that live and love like Jesus in some really exciting ways:
Northwood Church is an intentionally multi-ethnic church. This is evident not just in our members, but in our leadership. It is no secret that our society has a painful history where diversity is concerned, but we believe that the church should be on the frontlines of reconciliation and healing. The Kingdom of God is not divided by language, ethnicity, gender, background, socioeconomic status, or age.
Northwood is known in our community for serving people of all ages with special needs. This is a place where people with all abilities have an opportunity to experience God and learn about Him.
We are always looking for ways to improve accessibility. This is why we offer a sign language interpreter at our 11am service and have Braille sermon notes available. Our Kid’s Ministry is also fully equipped to serve kids of all ages who have special needs. The Joy Zone is a special area inside our Kid’s Building where children with special needs are invited to experience the love of Jesus through engaging activities designed specifically for them.
Our love for serving our multi-ability brothers and sisters does not end there. We have support groups for parents, small groups for adults with special needs, and a parent’s night out program. Click here to learn more about our Multi-ability Ministry.
A keyword in Northwood’s vocabulary is Glocal. It is how we affirm that we are all called to step into God’s story for our lives by serving locally and globally. We believe God has put each of us in specific contexts with unique, jobs, skills, and passions in order to serve and love those around us. At Northwood, this manifests in a variety of ways, including:
- Aiding teachers and tutoring students
- Providing free English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes
- Traveling to Vietnam to serve in domains like the medical field, education system, or government sector.
There is more than one way to make a global impact and we want to help you make yours! Learn more on our Missions page!
We believe that when Jesus told us to “love our neighbors,” the word neighbor was not limited to the people who look like us, talk like us, or even believe like us. Northwood has established relationships of love and respect with communities of different faiths in our local neighborhoods. We believe serving, listening, and appreciating those different than us is key to living and loving like Jesus.
