Prior to seminary, Steve has provided leadership in pastoral care, which further encouraged his desire to become a counselor. As a student at Southwestern, Steve was a counseling intern at the Walsh Counseling Center, Travis Avenue Baptist Church, Impact Guidance and Counseling Center, and Northwood Church, helping individuals through grief, trauma, divorce, anger, anxiety, and depression, as well as helping couples through communication issues. Steve’s desire is to help people in their relationship with God, self, and others, offering hope found in Christ Jesus. He offers pre-marital counseling, individual, family, and couples counseling for grief, trauma, divorce, anxiety, depression, and communication issues, as well as counseling for men with anger and sexual addiction. He is passionate about equipping men in their relationships and strengthening marriages. In addition, Steve is a trained facilitator in PREPARE/ENRICH, which is scientifically validated as a foundational program for premarital counseling, marriage enrichment, couples therapy, marriage mentoring and marriage education. In addition, Steve is certified by the American Association of Christian Counselors in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Sexual Addiction, in order to assist men in their struggle with pornography.

Prior to entering the field of counseling, Kimberly worked in public secondary education for eighteen years, both in the classroom and as a school counselor. During those years, Kimberly began to recognize the increasing prevalence of depression and anxiety among teens, and having experienced undiagnosed and untreated depression during her own teen and young adult years, began to recognize God’s leading to provide the counseling services many adolescents need but all too often are unable to receive. A vision for a non-profit organization and network of counselors providing mental health services to adolescents and their families regardless of insurance or income began to become more clearly defined. Leaving education, Kimberly worked as the adolescent therapist for Springwood Hospital’s Partial Hospitalization Program and for Texas Psychiatry Associates, P.A., in Flower Mound. Led to focus fulltime on The Refuge Counseling Resources, an adolescent counseling ministry, Kimberly’s search for a location to see her clients led her to The Counseling Center at NorthWood Church and a developing partnership to extend church counselor plant ministries into churches.
