Help Families Get Ready for the New School Year
Posted on July 20th, 2010.NorthWood Church is committed to serving the Haltom City community through our Glocal Impact ministry. By serving at the Academy at West Birdville, our church reaches out to young students and their families in a number of ways. Whether it is through tutoring or mentoring, providing a medical clinic or Home Makeover, you help us show God’s love to those in need.
The Birdville Independent School District has asked NorthWood Church to come help with a very important project. And this time, you have a great opportunity to not only help students at Academy of West Birdville, but all of the elementary and intermediate schools in BISD.
On July 30 – 31, we are partnering with Haltom City Parks and Recreation and other churches in the area to host a Back to School Carnival at Haltom High School, 5501 Haltom Road, Haltom City, TX 76137.
The purpose of the event is two fold, the first to raise funds for school supplies for the participating schools and students. The second is to provide medical and personal services to the students to prepare them for coming school year.
On the day of the event, the carnival will provide the following personal services for the students:
- Hair cuts
- Vision Screening
- Dental Screening
- Immunization
- Family Photos
All the above services are being provided by companies so our role is very simple, you can help in distributing family pictures or help the families navigate the carnival to ensure each has the opportunity to take advantage of the services provided.
You can serve Friday evening, Saturday morning and/or Saturday afternoon. Sign up in the Northwood Village or contact Danny Eldridge at danny.eldridge@servevita.com.
You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.
