Staff Changes Announced
Posted on June 24th, 2010.In last Sunday’s service, June 20th, several staff changes were announced. If you were not there, here’s a quick recap.
Matt Robertson and Jim Fletcher
Last spring, Randy Miller left our staff and was a big part of our discipleship program. Several of our staff quickly filled in, but we knew he would be hard to replace. Omar Reyes felt called to take on the leadership role in discipleship, but we knew this would leave us short in the Glocal Impact area. Pastor Bob Roberts told Omar, “We can’t move you over unless God drops someone from Heaven to replace you in Glocal Impact.” Words have creative power, and God brought along Matt Robertson.
Matt, his wife Shela, and kids, Karene and Samuel, have made the long move from the Seattle area to Keller. Matt has extensive experience in international missions including heading up the Habitat for Humanity office in Uganda, and most recently, as World Vision’s National Director of Church Involvement.
Soon after Randy Miller left, his assistant Kay Thomas decided her time at NorthWood Church was up as well. Filling Kay’s role will be Jim “Fletch” Fletcher. Fletch, his wife Monica and girls, AJ and Julianna, have been at NorthWood for a couple of years, and Jim has worked at the church part-time.
Dustin Jones and Brandon Smeltzer
Pastor Bob Roberts explained to the congregation how NorthWood is a revolving door. NorthWood is a teaching church, so people come here for a time for training and then go out and impact the world.
On a happy note, one of our staff is being obedient to God’s call on his life. On a sad note, we’re going to miss him and the impact he has had on our youth! Dustin Jones will be leaving the staff at NorthWood to begin the journey toward starting his own church. He will be joining the staff at Cool River, a NorthWood church plant in Superior, CO, and then launching out on his own. Dustin, his wife Christin, and children, Brock and Chloe, will be here through the end of July.
Again, God has brought along someone to fill the void left by Dustin. Brandon Smeltzer has been teaching and coaching at Faith Christian School. God has been leading him to move from education to ministry and we’re glad to have him. Brandon and his wife Shannon are expecting a new baby soon in addition to daughter Hannah.
A positive thing to note about these changes is that they are budget neutral. Our staff is back to full force and doing a great job. When you see these staff and their families, please say hello and let them know how much they mean to the NorthWood Church Family!
