Your Questions Week Four: Rapid Fire Response

This week Bob and Jordan will answer questions you text to us during the service in real time. We’ll also answer a few of the previously submitted questions that didn’t get answered in past weeks. If you don’t have text, or just cannot wait, and want to submit a question, leave a comment here. Your comment won’t appear immediately, but we’ll be approving them several times a day this week. How do married christians create and maintain a Christian marriage? What are the roles of the husband, what are the roles of the wife? How does the Bible say to fight/discuss with one another? Because lets face it- its going to happen!
How do you explain that the Bible is inspired by God to someone who believes it is totally a creation of man and questions, the left out books, misspellings, and so many translations?
Long and boring question, sorry:
Calvinism, Arminianism, or something else?
Calvinism leans heavily on Romans ch. 9 and says that God’s sovereign election is the key in salvation(whomever is to be saved was selected from before the foundation of the world).
Arminianism leans heavily on Romans ch. 10 and says that while God knows what will happen, it is our free will that determines our salvation (God knows who will be saved, but and selects those who will act on salvation).
Both views are true (God is sovereign and we have free will) but both have serious problems in the form of the preceeding or following chapter.
Should we simply select one of these two views, or is there another answer (such as that we should accept that we are unable to fully comprehend these two truths in opposition)?
Being sprit filled….whats the deal? What God means by it, what man means by it….spill….
I am confused about baptism. If I know my heart and God knows my heart and my desire to serve Him, then is it absolutely necessary to stand in front of a large group of strangers (such as at Northwood) and be immersed? I love God and I want to please Him and join Him in heaven one day. So, do I really have to overcome my phobia of being in front of a large group in order to “make it in”? When I have witnessed the baptisms of other brave souls, I have tried to envision myself being down there and my anxiety talks me out of it. Please help.
How do we know that we have all the books in the Bible? I know that there were several councils in the early history of the Christian church that debated the Canon. I’m fine with the books we have…but did they leave out any books/letters?
How does God answer prayers?
