More Creation, Dinosaur, Evolution Resources
Posted on January 23rd, 2010.Several of you have asked for more resources. Here are some I, Jordan, recommend.
The best book on Genesis 1 and creation/evolution, I have found is The Lost World of Genesis One by Walton. If you really want to read Genesis 1 in its context you must consider its claims. It is bombshell on the playground of the materialist view of Genesis and is creating a stir in OT studies. It deals with Genesis as an account of God giving function to creation in Gen 1, not materialism. A great read that will challenge you to really think about the purpose of Genesis 1 as the Ancient Near East would read the text. Frances Collins, the genome scientist states of the work, “Walton elevates Scripture to a new level of respectful understanding, and eliminates any conflict between scientific and scriptural descriptions of origins.” A bold claim, but if you take the argument of this book as valid, it does.
Of interest for scientist is Jim Tour, Rice professor and one of the most quoted in scientific publications (big stuff in the academic world) who is a believer.
If you don’t chose to embrace Walton’s view….check this as a Young Earth Creation site http://www.answersingenesis.org/
